Professional Liability
Lawyers admitted in Germany are subject to the statutory requirements concerning professional liability insurance under Section 51 BRAO.
The statutory minimum insurance coverage for an individual lawyer is EUR 250,000 per insured event. Different statutory minimum coverage requirements may apply to law firm entities depending on their legal form and structure.
The respective insurance terms and conditions are decisive for the specific scope of insurance coverage.
Out-of-Court Dispute Resolution
In the event of disputes between lawyers and their clients, out-of-court dispute resolution may be available.
In particular, the competent regional bar association or the nationwide conciliation body for the legal profession may be contacted.
